“Effective Cancer Drug against Tumors” FDA approved it right away!

It’s a study that creates much amusement to some experts that they found a cancer drug that is effective against tumor. This drug helped shrink or eradicate tumors in patients whose cancer had resisted every other form of treatment.

It is just a small study, there was no control group but the results were so striking that the FDA has already approved pembrolizumab.

The Cancer Drug discovered is called “pembrolizumab” – for patients of cancer from particular genetic abnormality.

“The study was interesting, welcomed and exciting” said Dr. Jack Jacoub, a medical oncologist and director of thoracic oncology at Memorial Care Cancer Institute at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in California.

Approving this “pembrolizumab” is a big move. “The FDA will take this thing seriously, the data was so good. they had to approve it”

The study was published in the journal Science, followed 86 patients who have advances cancer of the pancreas, prostate, uterus, or bone.

This drug is not know yet to the whole world. The study had just begun and this will need a group or in support to maximize the study.

“pembrolizumab” is also known as “Keytruda”. It was tested with 66 patients who had tumors, and the result was so promising. The result shrank significantly and stabilized, the 18 patients whose tumors disappeared and haven’t returned.

The study also shows that targeting the immune system to treat cancer can be effective. “This may improve outcomes” Jacoub said. He also added that he suspects that drug like this will be used in the future in connection with more established cancer treatments for specific types of disease. This form of therapy, plus something else, may allow us to potentially cure and eradicate cancer. These are the steps that are getting closer to that goal.
