Uber Technologies Inc. is a technology company headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States, operating in 570 cities worldwide. It develops, markets and operates the Uber car transportation and food delivery mobile apps.

Susan Fowler a former engineer posted a blog in February about sex harassment at the company. She said, on her first day at work her boss propositioned her in a in a series of messages.

After then, Uber set up 24-hour hotline to take complaints from employees and it was Perkins Coie assigned to investigate them. The hotline will remain active. They checked more than 200 complaints and more than 50 is under investigation.

Since then, Uber has fired more than 20 employees after a law firm investigated complaints of sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination and over violations of company policies. It includes both managers and lower-level workers. “Some of them retaliated against employees after they complained about bad conduct at the ride-hailing firm, said Bobbie Wilson – a Perkins Coie partner.

Perkins Coie then probe to likely make broader recommendations on how to change Uber’s culture when his report released publicly next week.

On the other hand, Uber announced that Apple marketing executive Bozoma Saint John will be Uber’s brand officer. Bozoma, ran the global consumer marketing of Apple Music and iTunes.

She was tasked to improve its brand image so people will like it as they like the company’s ride services.- Uber spokesman said.

According to Wilson, Uber’s problem is unusual in the technology industry, since the company has more than 14,000 employees just like any other tech companies in the nation.

Since the sex harassment issue, Uber is now the target of lawsuits, boycott threats and federal investigation into claims that is used a fake version of its app to thwart authorities.
