“Wonder Woman” is officially banned in Lebanon which means that the Warner Bros. tentpole was only scheduled to play in 15 locations.
It was banned just hours before the film was set to premiere in Beirut.
It was the government of Lebanese who made the decision because of the fact that the film’s star, Gal Gadot, is Israeli and served in the military. Lebanon is at war with Israel.
Since it will be played only in 15 locations, It tracks to open domestically at $87 million and expected to do brisk business overseas even without Lebanon area.
This ban was decided by a six-member Ministry of Economy committee.
